CSUN men's soccer drops pivotal game to Irvine - Daily Sundial

Image
The Matadors dropped a tough battle to UC Irvine Saturday night, losing 2-1 after entering the night on a two-game road winning streak. Looking to secure their eighth win of the season, CSUN men's soccer (7-5-4, 4-3-1 Big West Conference) missed several opportunities to score against UC Irvine (4-11-1, 4-3-0 Big West Conference). The Matadors attacked early, giving themselves five looks at the goal in the first half. Scoring one goal to the Anteaters' two, CSUN continued to generate opportunities in the second half, but was unable to capitalize and go for the win. Both the Anteaters and the Matadors came out on the attack, alternating chances to score through the first 15 minutes. A CSUN turnover less than a minute in gave UC Irvine a chance to draw first blood. Forward Robert Mejia possessed the ball in the penalty box. Taking one dribble, Mejia struck the ball but missed right of the goal. Four minutes later, defender Eddy Berumen received the ball on the left side of the

No. 3 Tennessee football will play its fifth ranked opponent this season in a clash with No. 17 Kentucky at Neyland Stadium. The Vols (7-0, 3-0 SEC) will wear all-black uniforms and lean on the highest-scoring offense (50.1 ppg) in college football in hopes of getting past the Wildcats (5-2, 2-2). The game starts at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. It could be a shootout. Last season, UT's Hendon Hooker and UK's Will Levis combined for almost 800 yards of total offense and nine TDs in the Vols' 45-42 win. The same quarterbacks will face off again. A big opportunity lies beyond this game if Tennessee can win. The Vols will play No. 1 Georgia on Nov. 5, which could carry SEC East title and College Football Playoff implications. TikTok begins pilot testing HTML5 mini-games with a handful of partners - TechCrunch

Image
TikTok wants to determine its users' appetite for mobile gaming with the launch of "mini-games" that can be played inside the social video app and discovered through creators' videos. TechCrunch learned and has now confirmed TikTok's new gaming pilot quietly launched just weeks ago with a variety of new partners, including game developers Vodoo, Nitro Games, FRVR, Aim Lab and Lotum. The launch follows reports earlier this year that the social video app maker was looking to expand into HTML5 gaming after first testing the waters with gaming giant Zynga last November. The two companies had then teamed up to launch a TikTok exclusive title, Disco Loco 3D, which was similar to Zynga's successful game (by way of acquisition) High Heels. At the time, TikTok said it was engaged in discussions with other game makers for similar deals, telegraphing a larger gaming expansion still to come. The move, if successful, could one day position TikTok as a

Price and MVG stunned in Dortmund - Sportinglife.com

Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price suffered shock exits in the opening round of the European Championship in Dortmund. World number two Price was the first to go when Rowby-John Rodriguez defeated him 6-4 and in the very next game, MVG lost to Chris Dobey for the first time ever in a thrilling clash that went to a deciding leg. The Iceman was well below his best at the Westfalenhalle and apart from a classy 10-darter in the third leg that put him 2-1 up, he was consistently put under pressure by the Austrian. Rodriguez earned the first break of throw in the seventh leg with a fine 92 checkout using a pair of double 18s after Price missed two darts at tops and he continued to hold his own before sealing his emotional victory with a brilliant 100 finish. "I'm so proud of myself - it's been a tough few weeks for me," reflected Rodriguez, who was making his first European Championship appearance since 2015. "I am shaking. I can't believe what I've done – I&#

Wisconsin basketball lands 2024 SF Jack Robison - Sports Illustrated

Image
The Wisconsin Badgers have found tremendous success over the years recruiting the Twin Cities and the surrounding suburbs.  On Tuesday, Greg Gard and the staff landed another Minnesota prospect, with Jack Robison announcing his commitment on Twitter.  Robison's commitment comes just days after wrapping up an official visit to Madison, and he becomes the first commitment for Wisconsin in the 2024 recruiting class. A three-star prospect by 247 Sports, Robison is the No. 145 prospect in the country and the No. 3 small player in the state of Minnesota in the 2024 cycle, per the recruiting service. At 6-foot-6, Robison is the No. 34 small forward for his grade level but is a lanky athlete capable of playing either forward spot at the next level if he continues to grow. Known primarily for his three-point shooting acumen, Robison scored just shy of 17 points per game last winter, but he can do it all on both ends of the court and plays with a grittiness that fits Wiscon

Jimmy Butler #22 of the Miami Heat dribbles against the Boston Celtics during the third quarter in Game Six of the 2022 NBA Playoffs Eastern Conference Finals (Photo by Kathryn Riley/Getty Images) The 2022-23 NBA season is getting closer and the Miami Heat are preparing for another competitive season in the Eastern Conference. They are hopeful that their best player in Jimmy Butler, who is one of the best players in the entire league, will be able to help them make another deep playoff push. ESPN recently released their annual top 100 NBA player rankings and it is safe to say that they are not in agreement with how good of a player Jimmy Butler is though. Butler was ranked 17th overall, which is way too low, to say the least. To be fair, to be considered the 17th best player in the NBA is a great achievement for any NBA player. However, Butler deserves to be ranked higher as a testament to his proven skill. The only way these rankings make any sense is if they were ba

Bob Costas blasts critics who claimed ‘Yankees bias’ during ALDS vs Guardians - Yanks Go Yard

Image
The New York Yankees topped the Cleveland Guardians this week in a five-game ALDS that aired on TBS, providing a different target to a whole new generation of fans who missed the chance to hate on Joe Buck. Legendary play-by-play voice Bob Costas got the chance to wax poetic in this series, entertaining some, but rubbing many the wrong way. Some, like New York's Mike Francesca, believed him to be long-winded, talking over the action with tales of yore. Others (mostly from Cleveland) believed Costas to be a member of the biased mob, collaborating the MLB's head honchos in NYC to make certain the Yankees advanced in the series. Those people couldn't be  more  wrong; Costas provided equal amounts of misery to both fan bases, whether he was zeroing in on the Bronx crowd booing Aaron Judge or taking the right fielder to task for missing hanger after hanger. Given the chance to address how much he hates Cleveland by Ohio sports talk show "The Ken C
