SpaceX's new Starship prototype appeared to burst during a pressure test late Friday (Feb. 28), rupturing under the glare of flood lights and mist at the company's south Texas facility.  The Starship SN1 prototype, which SpaceX moved to a launchpad near its Boca Chica, Texas, assembly site earlier this week, blew apart during a liquid nitrogen pressure test according to a video captured by SPadre.com.  A separate video posted by NASASpaceflight.com member BocaChicaGal clearly shows the Starship SN1's midsection buckle during the test, then shoot upward before crashing back to the ground.  Space.com has reached out to SpaceX for details of Friday's test. This story will be updated as more information is available.  Video: Watch SpaceX roll out its Starship SN1 for tests Related: SpaceX's Starship and Super Heavy rocket in pictures [embedded content] Starship SN1 is a test article for SpaceX's planned Starship and Super Heavy megarocket, a massive, reusa

Houston Rockets: The James Harden and Giannis feud has been terrific - House of Houston

Image
Houston Rockets guard James Harden and reigning NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo have been trading shots across bows and it has been fun to watch. What’s up? The Houston Rockets are ascending up in the Western Conference standings and have a sterling 11-2 record since the team has committed to small ball fully.  Mike D’Antoni had to try something different as the current roster as it stood was underachieving which that’s not something Houston Rockets management wants to see, considering the significant investment made in James Harden and Russell Westbrook. The Los Angeles Clippers were able to successfully take down the Denver Nuggets in a 132-103 beatdown at the STAPLES Center last night.  I’m sure we’ll all be scoreboard watching for the rest of the season to try to gauge where the Houston Rockets will end up when the dust settles from 2019-20 season. As it stands right now, the 38-20 Houston Rockets are 1.5 games from the Clips and Nugs who both are in a dead heat with a 40-19 re

How the best Houston Rockets defensive duo compares to the NBA’s best - Space City Scoop

Image
Houston Rockets P.J. Tucker Robert Covington (Photo by Tim Warner/Getty Images) The Houston Rockets’ signing of Robert Covington created one of the NBA’s most versatile defensive duos, so how do they measure up with best in the league? When the season first began, the Houston Rockets didn’t quite have an identity. The team was always toward the top of the league in various offensive categories and toward the middle or bottom on defense. Behind James Harden and Russell Westbrook, the Rockets held their own but still didn’t have a calling card. Sometimes Mike D’Antoni would have Danuel House in the starting lineup. Other times, Eric Gordon would get the nod. After some injuries, Ben McLemore even got some time as a starting guard. All along, Houston was playing a variation of small ball that was being partially canceled out by the talented, yet tall, Clint Capela. The result was a jumbled lineup that could do a little bit of everything on both ends but not exceptionally well. The m

Jeff Van Gundy claims Rockets’ Mike D’Antoni is ‘unafraid’ of criticism - ClutchPoints

Image
The Houston Rockets have been the anomaly franchise in the NBA for the past few years. Head coach Mike D’Antoni prioritizes floor spacing, perimeter shooting and getting out in transition, three factors that have made the Rockets one of the most high-scoring teams in the league. The Rockets set the record for most three-point attempts in each of the last three seasons, and they feel so comfortable with their current system they decided to trade center Clint Capela prior to the deadline in order to acquire another wing player (Robert Covington). While some pundits have questioned whether the Rockets can effectively employ this small-ball strategy in the playoffs, former coach and current commentator Jeff Van Gundy has respect for D’Antoni and co. Van Gundy iterated the Rockets–from the front office to the coaching staff–stick to their guns regardless of the outside noise (via Jonathan Feigen of the  Houston Chronicle ): “I admire their basketball courage,” Van Gundy sai

Rockets’ P.J. Tucker says it’s ‘not a choice’ for him to play at center - ClutchPoints

Image
When the Houston Rockets traded Clint Capela in a deal for Robert Covington near the trade deadline, everyone just assumed that the Rockets would acquire another big man to replace Capela. They didn’t. As a result, P.J. Tucker has had to take on the responsibility of playing center. And whether or not he enjoys it doesn’t really matter. It’s just something he has to do: “It’s not a choice,” said Tucker, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic. “It’s like when people ask me why I play so hard. Like, it’s not a choice to play hard. I don’t have a choice. That’s what you’ve got to do. Period.” Tucker said that he is perfectly fine in any role as long as it gives him a chance to compete for a title. “You’re just holding it down no matter what, with everything that’s going on,” Tucker said. “You don’t really have time to sit around and process what’s going on. And at the end of the day, I don’t think it really mattered. Not for me, with how I play and what I bring to the t

Jeff Green and DeMarre Carroll makes the team ‘dangerous,’ says Danuel House - ClutchPoints

Image
The Houston Rockets made plenty of headlines when they traded center Clint Capela and ditched a traditional rotation in favor of adding Robert Covington and playing small. But Covington is not the only new face to have joined the roster in recent weeks. The Rockets signed veteran forward Jeff Green to a 10-day contract earlier this month, which has turned into a guaranteed contract for the rest of the season. Houston also signed DeMarre Carroll after Carroll agreed to a buyout with the San Antonio Spurs. Rockets swingman Danuel House said the addition of Green and Carroll gives the team added scoring off the bench and makes them that much tougher (via Kelly Iko of The Athletic): “It makes your team a very dangerous team,” House said. “Especially with your starting five. If your starting five is capable of putting up points and your bench is capable of putting up points, the team can stay consistent. There are no highs or lows, so that’s really good for our team.” Green is a

Rockets officially sign Jeff Green for remainder of 2019-20 season - Rockets Wire

Image
In news that should surprise no one, the Houston Rockets announced late Friday that Jeff Green is now signed for the rest of the season. Both Green and the Rockets have raved about the fit since the 13-year NBA veteran signed a 10-day contract on Feb. 18. In four games as Houston’s backup center to P.J. Tucker, Green is averaging 9.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 19.3 minutes per game, all while shooting 70.0% from the floor and 61.5% on 3-pointers. The Rockets (38-20) have won each of those contests by double digits, with Green as a consistent part of the rotation in each game. Jeff Green has always been one of the more versatile players in the NBA. It’s surprising how he’s never had a home in the league. He can literally do it all. pic.twitter.com/SwwSr4G2OR — Ball Don't Stop (@balldontstop) February 22, 2020 Moving forward, those lofty percentages won’t be sustainable as the sample size grows. Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta was against Houston’s protest vs. Spurs - ClutchPoints

Image
Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta finally spoke up regarding the team’s unsuccessful protest made earlier this season over an uncounted James Harden dunk. According to Kirk Bohls of Statesman, Fertitta admitted that he wasn’t keen to file the protest because of a blown 22-point lead. He added that it was his “basketball people” that pushed for filing, and said, “If something is important to my players and basketball ops people, I give them a lot of leeway.” The dunk in question originated in a game against the Spurs earlier this season. Harden had attempted a slam during the fourth quarter, during which Houston was still up 13 points. They eventually suffered a double-overtime loss, 135-133. The refs really didn't count this Harden dunk 🤔 pic.twitter.com/tkpFWpqu9f — Bleacher Report (@BleacherReport) December 4, 2019 Although replays in fact showed that the basket was good, the time window for a Coach’s Challenge had supposedly passed. Rockets News: Jeff Green Signs Contract for Rest of Season After 10-Day Deal - Bleacher Report

Bill Baptist/Getty Images The Houston Rockets announced Friday that they have signed veteran forward Jeff Green for the remainder of the 2019-20 season after his 10-day contract expired.  In four games as a member of the Rockets, Green is averaging 9.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 19.3 minutes per contest. Green previously appeared in 30 games as a member of the Utah Jazz this season prior to getting waived. For the 2019-20 campaign as a whole, Green is averaging 8.0 points and 2.8 rebounds. The 33-year-old Green is in the midst of his 12th NBA season, and he has been something of a journeyman. The Rockets are his ninth different team, as he previously spent time as a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Boston Celtics, Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Clippers, Orlando Magic, Cleveland Cavaliers, Washington Wizards and Jazz. Green is a bench player at this juncture of his career, but he has plenty of starting experience with 543 starts in 894 games. For his career, G
