In his first season with the Rockets, Westbrook is averaging 27.3 points, 7.9 rebounds and 7.2 assists. The former MVP is shooting 47.0 percent from the field, 24.9 percent from beyond the arc and 78.7 percent from the free-throw line.
Westbrook, who averaged a triple-double three seasons in a row coming into this year, has 20 double-doubles and eight triple-doubles on the season. The Rockets are 32-16 with Westbrook in the lineup coming into Saturday’s matchup against the Boston Celtics.
The Rockets are the only team in the NBA with two MVPs leading the charge. Once the playoffs start, the Rockets will ultimately go as far as Russell Westbrook and James Harden can take them as they lead their super-small-ball revolution.
