Michigan men’s basketball’s opponent set for 2021 Gavitt Games series - Maize n Brew

The Michigan Wolverines have a loaded non-conference schedule this upcoming season and have added another quality opponent to the slate. According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, the Wolverines will take on Seton Hall in the annual Gavitt Games series that pits the Big Ten and Big East conferences.

Andrew Kahn of MLive confirmed the game between the two teams and said that the take is set for Nov. 16.

Seton Hall went 14-13 last year and missed the NCAA Tournament after four straight trips prior to that.

Seton Hall is notable, of course, for being the team that Michigan defeated in the 1989 national title game. The Wolverines would play the Pirates seven months later and win the rematch. This season's showdown will be the third time that the two programs meet and the first time somewhere other than a neutral court.

The finishing touches are still being put on the rest of the non-conference schedule, but there are plenty of quality opponents that will test the Wolverines before Big Ten play begins. Michigan will go to Vegas for the MGM Resorts Main Event in a tournament that includes Arizona, Wichita State and UNLV. Those games are set for Nov. 19 and 21. Kentucky will come to Crisler Center on Dec. 4, while a trip to Central Florida is also on the books with a date to be determined. The Wolverines will also take part in the annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge, but dates and opponents have yet to be determined.
