Texas Football: Jaydon Blue scrubs Longhorns from social media - Hook'em Headlines
Thursday night was a tough pill to swallow for Texas football and its fans as the Horns fell to Washington in the Alamo Bowl 27-20. Unfortunately for the Longhorn faithful, it may get worse before it gets better.
Freshman running back Jaydon Blue has scrubbed his Instagram account of anything relating to the University of Texas.
After playing just 16 offensive snaps in the regular season, it was widely expected Blue would get a chance to prove himself in the Alamo Bowl. Not only did Blue not touch the ball in the loss to Washington; he did not receive a single offensive snap.
Blue was an incredibly successful high school player at Klein Cain (Houston), culminating in a junior season where he rushed for 2155 yards and 30 touchdowns on 9.5 yards per carry. He was a consensus four-star prospect and ranked as the 15th-best running back in the class of 2022. Blue elected to forgo his senior season of high school and enroll at the University of Texas in January 2022.

Sitting behind Bijan Robinson, Roschon Johnson, Keilan Robinson, and Jonathon Brooks, Blue was fifth on the running back depth chart during the 2022 regular season. He played in three games, carrying the ball 15 times for 33 yards.
All reports out of Texas bowl practice pointed to Blue being one of the underclassmen who looked impressive in the Alamo bowl lead-up. For him not to see one offensive snap in a game where Texas clearly needed more juice in the backfield is a head-scratcher, to say the least.
We have seen players delete things off of their social media accounts and have nothing else come of it. While I am hoping that is the case with Blue, I completely understand the frustration of the young back.
The departure of Robinson and Johnson opens up a running back competition that will likely last through 2023 fall camp. That said, the coaching staff did nothing on Thursday night to instill any confidence in Blue's standing within this offense going forward.
With Cedric Baxter Jr, the #1 running back in the class of 2023, arriving on campus in January and two backs already ahead of him on the depth chart, I would not be surprised to see Blue explore other options.
Blue is an incredibly talented football player and a guy who I believe will have a very fruitful collegiate career. For everyone's sake, I hope that happens for him on the 40.
