England vs Ukraine live stream: match preview

Ukraine have had to wait a few days longer than England to get their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign underway, but will take some confidence from their Nations League performance last year, when they finished second in Group B1 behind Scotland. Their last meeting with England was a chastening one, though, with goals from Jordan Henderson, Harry Maguire, and a Harry Kane brace giving England a 4-0 win in the quarter-final at Euro 2020.

England got off to the perfect start when they beat Italy in Naples on Thursday night, but it wasn't as comfortable as it could have been. Goals from Declan Rice and Harry Kane put Gareth Southgate's side two up, but Jack Grealish missed a sitter just before half-time that would've put the game beyond Italy's reach. That seemed to give the hosts more belief and a debut goal from Mateo Retegui, plus a red card for Luke Shaw, made it a nervous end, but the Three Lions held on for their first win in Italy since 1961.

Port Adelaide v Adelaide, 6.30pm AEDT

Everyone loves a Showdown, and we've got plenty to pick from.

The Power came from 20 points down with 11 minutes left in round 19 of 2013, with Chad Wingard booting two of the final four goals himself. Will that comeback be enough to get that match over the line?

Will we see Port Adelaide just fall short after booting four final-quarter majors and holding Adelaide to just two points in round 16, 2015? It was a game played amid tragic circumstances, just weeks after Crows coach Phil Walsh's passing.

Or will it be some Stevie Motlop magic, booting the winner in the last minute after teammate Robbie Gray had recorded five of his own in round 8, 2018?

>> Continue to find ways to cheer on your side. If you're an AFL Live Pass subscriber, tune in on the AFL Live Official App and AFL.Tv and Friday night from 7.50pm AEDT to watch the match in full as it happened.

AFL 2023 Round 3 LIVE Updates: Collingwood Magpies, Richmond Tigers Face Off At MCG

Craig McRae spoke to the media post game.

Bit of a different style of game to the first two weeks but I guess it might be pleasing to win in a different manner?

Yeah conditions obviously in the first half were difficult, particularly the first quarter. Credit to Richmond, I thought they brought the best version of their pressure which made it a difficult game. It is always pleasing to get the four points. Keep banking them this time of year, they are important.

The team had 13 of the first 14 scoring shots and heading into half time, do you sort of reassure them? What's the message? To keep their heads-up?

They were up by 3 points in the third. We kept the opposition... You don't lose too many games when that's the case but when you don't kick accurately, you give the opposition hope. It is knowing they were going to come, but then being able to manage it and come again. I was pleased after game, I spoke to the group about Darcy Moore, his spoil on the far side of the ground that changed the momentum of the game. Those moments we want to cherish and reward. They inspire others.

It is important to have days or nights like this, they come at you ugly, the conditions aren't the best, the goal kicking isn't working but you find a way to work it out. No-one goes back in time and looks at premiership teams and how they won every game. You have to qualify. That's all we're about doing. We have to perform every week. Opposition have started to take things away. It's a hard game this one. To get away with a win in those conditions and against a quality opposition, it is important.

How much improvement do you think you have left in you as a side? You've had a pretty amazing first three weeks? What potential do you think you're operating in at the moment?

We don't live in a finished state. We don't live in a finished state. We live in a growth mindset. I like to think the best days are tomorrow. Why would we put a lid on it? Perfection - It's a word I don't like. We have a long way to go. Major parts of our games we're tinkering with. You have to evolve during the season.

Darcy Cameron you're a couple of ruck men short?

We've had a bad week in the ruck space. Lost Mason Cox for a period of time. Looks like Darcy will be out for a period. Initially, the doc says it is a high-grade MCL. I don't know how long that is. We'll wait and see.
