'Dirty' Minkah Fitzpatrick Hit Behind Awful Nick Chubb Injury: Former Players
Was a "dirty" hit to blame for Nick Chubb's horrific injury on "Monday Night Football?"
During Tuesday's installment of "Good Morning Football," Kyle Brandt, who co-hosts the morning show on NFL Network, said some former players weren't happy with Fitzpatrick over the hit.
"I'm texting with some people that played in the league that said, 'The Minkah hit is dirty. He should be fined, he should be suspended. There is no business for that. He went low when [Chubb] was vulnerable,'" Brandt said.
On the play, Steelers linebacker Cole Holcomb had just wrapped up Chubb when Fitzpatrick dove at Chubb's legs to finish the tackle.
Jason McCourty, a co-host on the show and former defensive back who played 13 NFL seasons, disagreed.
"I don't think it was intentionally dirty," McCourty said. "When you look at the replay and you see him going low while someone is tackling him up high — and you're like, 'Well why would he do that?'

Joe Buck: "I am told that the replay of Nick Chubb getting injured is not to be seen."
The groan from the Pittsburgh crowd probably tells us all we need to know. Chubb was carted off.

— Awful Announcing (@awfulannouncing) September 19, 2023 Minkah Fitzpatrick tackles Nick ChubbGetty Images"You have to remember, DBs are the smallest guys out there on the field a lot of times. The way you get a big to back down, you have to go low. If you're Minkah Fitzpatrick, you can't tackle a Nick Chubb up high because he's going to run right through you."
Regardless of the cause, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed after the game that Chubb will miss the entire 2024 season.
Fitzpatrick did not get out of the game — a 26-22 Steelers win — unscathed, either.

"I just know he's being evaluated as we speak," Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said of Fitzpatrick after the game, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "I'm sure we'll have more information (on Tuesday)."
