Fake Patriots Rings, Other NFL, NBA, MLB Rings, Seized By NY Border Patrol

Fake Super Bowl rings — including some that featured the New England Patriots logo — along with other rings with NFL, NBA and MLB trademarks, were seized by U.S. Customs and Border Protections officers at the Rochester Port of Entry in New York, the agency announced.

Officers found what they later determined to be counterfeit rings and small championship trophies in late April, the agency said in a statement released Thursday.

The fake Super Bowl rings included those that featured the logos of the Patriots, the San Francisco 49ers, the Oakland Raiders, the New York Giants and the Washington Redskins, Border Patrol said in its statement. Fake World Series rings were also found, featuring logos from the New York Yankees. Fake NBA Championship rings featured logos from the Los Angeles Lakers and the Chicago Bulls.

Fake NCAA basketball championship rings from Syracuse University were also found, according to the statement.

An examination of the items determined all of the items were fake and were "seized for bearing counterfeit trademarks," the agency said. The items were seized as Intellectual Property Rights violations.

"Had these items been genuine, the total Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) value would be approximately $9,000 dollars," according to the statement.

"Our officers continue to play a critical role in protecting the consumer from counterfeit items," Rochester Port Director Ronald Menz said in the statement. "Counterfeiters scam consumers into buying low-quality replicas online. Our officers diligently work to protect the American consumer by intercepting this illegitimate merchandise."

U.S. Customs and Border Protections "has the authority to detain, seize, forfeit, and ultimately destroy imported merchandise if it bears an infringing trademark or copyright that has been registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office or the United States Copyright Office" the statement said.

Fake New England Patriots' Super Bowl Rings Intercepted By Border Patrol Agents

Border patrol agents pulled a Malcolm Butler at the goal line when they intercepted fake Patriots' Super Bowl rings, which looked like they were from the team's fourth title over the Seahawks.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced that its officers have seized Super Bowl, World Series, and NBA championship rings for bearing counterfeit trademarks.

The border patrol officers at the Rochester Port of Entry recently found several mini championship trophies and rings bearing NFL, NBA, and MLB trademarks during a shipment inspection.

The Super Bowl rings featured logos from the Pats, San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders, New York Giants, and Washington Redskins (now Commanders).

The World Series rings had logos from the New York Yankees, and the NBA championship rings featured logos from the Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls. There was also NCAA basketball championship rings allegedly from Syracuse University.

After officers examined the merchandise, they determined that the items were not authentic and were seized for bearing counterfeit trademarks.

Had these items been genuine, the total Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) value would be about $9,000.

"Our officers continue to play a critical role in protecting the consumer from counterfeit items," Rochester Port Director Ronald Menz said in a statement. "Counterfeiters scam consumers into buying low quality replicas online. Our officers diligently work to protect the American consumer by intercepting this illegitimate merchandise."

CBP has the authority to detain, seize, forfeit, and ultimately destroy imported merchandise if it bears an infringing trademark or copyright that has been registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office or the U.S. Copyright Office, and has been recorded with CBP through the e-Recordation program.

Other violations can include misclassification of merchandise, false country-of-origin markings, health and safety issues, and valuation issues.

It's also against the law to import counterfeit or pirated merchandise, and individual consumers may be liable for a fine even if they did not intend to import counterfeit or pirated merchandise.

All 32 Teams (including Patriots) Ranked By Salary Cap Space After 2024 NFL Draft

The New England Patriots are sitting pretty at the top of the list of 32 NFL teams with the most available salary cap space, following the 2024 NFL draft.

As of right now, the Patriots are projected to still have $50.6 million in cap space.

Keep in mind, that number is still subject to change when the team gets around to signing the draft class, along with any undrafted rookie free agents they ultimately decide to pick up.

The Patriots being in great cap shape is good news for a team that could still be looking to splurge on more than just in-house talent at some point. They clearly have the money to make big moves in the future. Time will tell if they get a chance to make use of it.

Here's all 32 NFL teams, including the Patriots, ranked by salary cap space, per Over The Cap.
