Wide receiver Josh Gordon finds his latest opportunity in the NFL on Monday Night Football, as the Tennessee Titans elevated him off their practice squad to face the Buffalo Bills.
The 31-year-old Gordon has had a storied, up-and-down NFL career, as off-field struggles with substance abuse didn't allow him to reach the superstardom he seemed destined for. But now with the Titans, Gordon is looking to make the best of his latest chance to reach that.
"Josh just needs opportunities to prove that he's still the incredible player and talent he's always been," Gordon's agent, Zac Hiller, told NFL Network.

Gordon most recently played for the Kansas City Chiefs during the preseason, but after being part of final cuts, the Titans signed him to their practice squad.
Gordon was reinstated by the NFL in September 2021 and the Chiefs signed him, where he appeared in 12 games and caught five passes for 32 yards and a touchdown.

In 2013, Gordon was a first-team All-Pro and earned a spot at the Pro Bowl after tallying 1,646 yards on 87 passes with nine touchdowns for the Cleveland Browns. However, the Browns and the NFL suspended him 11 games during the 2014 season and didn't play at all in the 2015 and 2016 campaigns, due to violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Gordon would get another shot in 2017 when the NFL reinstated him, and he went back to the Browns where he played five games. He caught 18 passes for 335 yards with a touchdown.

The New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks also gave Gordon a shot in the 2018 and 2019 seasons respectively, but he was suspended yet again in 2019 for his sixth violation to the policy. Then, he failed to meet requirements for reinstatement in 2020 before getting another shot with the Chiefs last season.

Gordon may not get that many opportunities on the field Monday night, though, as receivers Robert Woods, Treylon Burks, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Kyle Phillips are all healthy. Phillips was questionable entering Monday.

Chiefs News: Josh Gordon Nearing NFL Comeback Due To XFL Efforts
Former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Josh Gordon has taken his talents over to the newly-revamped XFL, which is three weeks into its inaugural season. And he has shown flashes of his All-Pro talent thus far, which has him nearing a potential return to the NFL.
Take for example Gordon's game-winning touchdown on Saturday, March 4. Gordon, who plays for the Seattle Sea Dragons, caught a 64-yard touchdown from quarterback Ben DiNucci on fourth down with a little under a minute left in the game to defeat the Vegas Vipers. During the play, Gordon Moss'd a defender and made another one miss him before working his way into the endzone.
Josh Gordon had 6 receptions, 118 yards and 2 TDs tonight in a win for the XFL's Seattle Sea Dragons.

In that game, Gordon had a total of 6 receptions for 118 yards and 2 touchdowns. His first touchdown in that game came on a play in which he caught a pass in the back of the endzone and managed to keep his feet in bounds.
Heading into Sunday's slate of games, Gordon leads the league in receiving yards (225) and receiving touchdowns (3), per the XFL website. His Week 3 outing marked the first game this season that a player has recorded over 100 receiving yards in a single game.
"Josh has been outstanding. His passion and love for the game is contagious for our young guys," Seattle's Director of Pro Personnel Randy Muller told Heavy Sports. "He garners respect from us all just for being here but he works everyday like he is a rookie free agent, trying to make any NFL team. The more he learns our offensive scheme the more productive he is.
"He has no ego, has been a really good teammate and, I think, really enjoys being here. The big plays he made in the Vegas game were a great reward and example for him and our team. He's a NFL talented receiver, who will probably be playing on Sundays again soon."
Josh Gordon's Time With Chiefs Lasted 1 Full SeasonAfter being reinstated to the NFL in September of 2021, the Chiefs signed Josh Gordon to the team's practice squad on September 27. A week later, Gordon was promoted to the Chiefs' 53-player roster. Yet, his impact on Kansas City's offense wasn't significant during the 2021 season.
In 12 regular season games played during the 2021 season, Gordon caught 5 passes on 14 targets for 32 yards and 1 touchdown, per Pro Football Reference.
On January 24, the Chiefs waived Gordon but then re-signed him to a reserve/futures deal in February.
Entering the 2022 season, Gordon had to compete with the likes of Marquez Valdes-Scantling, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman, Skyy Moore, and Justin Watson for a spot on the active roster. Unfortunately for Gordon, he was the odd man out and was released toward the end of the preseason.
Twitter Reacts to Josh Gordon's Game-Winning TDTwitter users reacted to Josh Gordon's game-winning touchdown in Week 3 of the XFL's inaugural season.
"This is great to see! Josh Gordon always had so much talent, happy to see him still playing football," one Twitter user wrote.
"That man has so much potential. Not sure why he couldn't pan out in the NFL," another user wrote. "Yes I know about the weed thing but beyond that he seemed to have good wits about him."

Josh Gordon May Have Found Another NFL Landing Spot - FanSided
NFL wide receiver Josh Gordon was released by the Kansas City Chiefs when they trimmed their roster, and he's already found another landing spot.
NFL wide receiver Josh Gordon was released by the Kansas City Chiefs when they trimmed their roster. Luckily, it didn't take him long to find another landing spot. According to Taylor Bisciotti of NFL Network, Gordon visited the Tennessee Titans on Wednesday.
He was later signed to the Titans practice squad, according to agent Zac Hiller (reported to Adam Schefter of ESPN).
Gordon has had a rough path in the NFL. He was one of the best players in 2013, just one year after he made his NFL debut. According to ESPN, "He led the NFL in receiving in 2013 with 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns on 87 catches."
He then missed the entirety of the 2015 and 2016 seasons due to suspensions involving substances. Since then, he's had trouble staying on any team and his performance has gone significantly downhill.
If he can get back to his early-career potential, he could be a weapon for the Titans.
Gordon started his career with a catch percentage of 52.1 and consistently caught about the same through his first three seasons. After being suspended, he came back inconsistent each season. By the end of last season, he had a catch percentage of 35.7.
He only completed 32 rushing yards over 12 games. He undoubtedly lost his steam and wouldn't contribute much considering those numbers. However, with his early-season results, he'd be able to help the Titans significantly.
The Titans are a good team and have finished first in the AFC South standings the past three consecutive seasons, so it's smart to add Gordon to the practice squad rather than the 53-man roster right away. He should have to prove himself, and this will give him the opportunity to without having to give up on his NFL career.
