CSU Basketball Announces 2025-2026 Non-Conference Slate
CHARLESTON – Charleston Southern Men's Basketball and Head Coach Saah Nimley announced the team's 2025-2026 non-conference opponents on Friday afternoon featuring six contests at home and nine on the road.
The Bucs will travel to Blacksburg, Virginia on November 3rd to face the Hokies of Virginia Tech on college basketball's opening night. CSU has competed against Virginia Tech seven times in school history and only two of those match-ups have been played in the last 15 years.
Buccaneer fans will get to see their first home court look at Coach Nimley's 2025-26 squad on Thursday, November 6th as CSU hosts Toccoa Falls College, a team they have never lost to (8-0).
Game number three will technically be on the road, but only about 20 miles away from Charleston Southern's campus as the Bucs take on neighboring rival, The Citadel Bulldogs on November 10th. The two Lowcountry programs have squared off 37 total times with 16 of those competitions ending in Buccaneer victories.
With three games behind them, Coach Nimley's crew will head to Huntsville, Alabama to participate in the 2025 Bulldog Bash hosted by Alabama A&M University. The Bucs' first match-up in Huntsville will be on November 13th against the hosting Bulldogs, the first competition between the two programs in school history. The following day, November 14th, the Bucs will face the Lindenwood Lions, another program they have no history with on the basketball floor.
On November 18th, CSU will be back in the Buc Dome to host the IU-Indy Jaguars, their third 2025-26 match-up in a row against a team they have never competed against in school history. The November 18th event will serve as Charleston Southern Men's Basketball's "Camp Night" as they invite all of their 2025 summer campers to come watch their former camp counselors in action.
Three days later, November 21st, the Bucs will head to Greenville, North Carolina to face the East Carolina Pirates. ECU and CSU have seen each other eight total times in the school's histories. Interestingly enough, none of the previous match-ups have occurred in the last 40-plus years as the last battle was in 1983.
On November 25th, two days before Thanksgiving, Piedmont University will arrive in the Buc Dome. CSU has not competed against the Piedmont Lions since 1993, one of only three all-time match-ups between the two schools.
The Buccaneers' November finale will be in their state's capital as they travel to Columbia for a November 28th match-up against the Gamecocks of South Carolina. This will be the 10th all-time meeting between the two men's basketball programs. The Bucs' last win against the SEC member was in 1996
On December 2nd, CSU will travel to a team they hosted and defeated last season, the UT-Martin Skyhawks. Last year was the first meeting between the two programs in school history.
Two days later, December 4th, the Buccaneers will begin a three-game home stretch as they host Warren Wilson College. The Owls from Swannanoa, North Carolina and CSU have never faced off against one another on the basketball court.
Four days later, December 8th, South Carolina State will come to Charleston for match-up number 38 between the two Palmetto State programs. The last time the Bulldogs were in the Buc Dome was the first game of Coach Nimley's Interim Head Coaching era. His first head coaching victory occurred that same day as the Bucs defeated SCSU 66-64. The December 8th event will serve as Charleston Southern Men's Basketball's "Greek Night" game.
After a brief hiatus, the Bucs will return to the court on December 18th when they host the Ospreys of North Florida. The Bucs and Ospreys have become familiar with one another in non-conference play as this will be the fifth match-up between the programs in the last eight seasons. The December 18th event will serve as Charleston Southern Men's Basketball's "Education Day" game.
On December 21st, their last competition before the Christmas holiday, Coach Nimley's squad will head to Greenville and face off against fellow South Carolina school, the Furman Paladins. This will be the 19th all-time match-up between the two programs.
The final non-conference battle for the Bucs will be a road game on December 28th against the Richmond Spiders. CSU and Richmond have not played each other since 2010, the only previous contest between the two programs

ECU Men's Basketball Coach Schwartz Talks Excitement Ahead Of Season ...
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — ECU's men's basketball team opens its season Monday night by hosting N.C. Wesleyan.
The Pirates bring back seven players from a year ago and they've added six more through the transfer portal. WNCT's Brian Bailey caught up with Head Coach Mike Schwartz ahead of the season opener.
"You know, it's just a great time of year. You know, we've been excited, long offseason, pre-season. We're ready," Coach Schwartz said. "The guys are ready, excited for Monday night. You know, college basketball is here. You're in the last week of October, last day of October today, just really fired up for this new group. The guys are ready to get out in front of fans and very excited about Monday night with North Carolina Wesleyan."

Men's Basketball: ECU Wins Third-straight With 64-55 Victory Over ...
GREENVILLE, N.C. (ECU ATHLETICS) - C.J. Walker scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds as East Carolina defeated South Florida, 64-55, on Saturday afternoon inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.
RJ Felton and Jordan Riley each added 12 points for the Pirates (12-9, 4-4 AAC) who have won three straight games.
Kobe Knox led South Florida (10-10, 3-4 AAC) with a game-high 17 points.After getting a steal and a score in the opening seconds of the game, the Pirates missed three shots in a row before Cam Hayes snapped a three-minute field goal drought to tie the game at 5-5 going into the first media timeout.
ECU hit back-to-back threes from Felton and Jayshayne Woodard to extend their lead to 13-5 and force a Bulls' timeout with 13:23 left in the first half. South Florida countered with a 12-4 run to tie the contest at 17 before a fast break slam from Walker put the Pirates back in front.
The teams traded leads and three-pointers in the span of a minute before Jayden Reid's score gave South Florida its largest lead of the game at 25-22 with three and a half minutes to go in the first half. ECU closed the half out strong, outscoring USF 9-3, to go into the locker room up 31-28.
A three-point play from Walker to open the second half pushed the Pirates' lead to six but the Bulls would not go away, cutting the lead to just two at the 18:10 mark of the second half. ECU's threes would start to fall again as the Pirates blew the game open with long distance makes from Felton, Riley and Trevion LaBeaux to increase the lead to 12.
The Bulls would get no closer than nine down the stretch as timely offensive rebounds and made shots allowed the Pirates to control the final 10 minutes for the win.
