NBA Trade Rumors: Rockets interested in trading for Pacers' Myles Turner - NBA Analysis Network
The Indiana Pacers are going to be a team to keep a close eye on this offseason. It sounds like both Victor Oladipo and Myles Turner could be on the trade block. In addition to that report, the Houston Rockets may come calling for Turner.
According to a report from Ross of Legion Hoops, the Rockets are one of the many teams interested in acquiring Turner from the Pacers.
Houston would make a ton of sense as a potential landing spot for Turner. They need rim protection, but they will not want a big who can’t space the floor. Thankfully, Turner checks both of those boxes.
During the 2019-20 NBA season with the Pacers, Turner ended up averaging 12.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game. He shot 45.7 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 34.4 percent of his three-point attempts. Those numbers would look good for the Rockets.
Rumors have been swirling surrounding the Rockets that they could break up their core. Russell Westbrook has been talked about as a trade candidate, but Eric Gordon is also a possible trade chip. Gordon to the Pacers for Turner would make for a good trade on both sides.
Turner is just 24 years old and has never been allowed to truly play his game with the Pacers. He has never had the green light offensively, which had a lot to do with Nate McMillan’s coaching philosophy.
Heading to the Rockets, even in the post-Mike D’Antoni era would be a nice fit. Turner is also from Texans, so heading back to his home state would be appealing.
Expect to hear about a lot of teams contacting the Pacers with interest in acquiring Myles Turner. The Rockets will likely be one of them and could be an ideal fit for Turner’s next chapter.
Only time will tell, but both the Pacers and Rockets could look a lot different to start the 2020-21 NBA season.
