Curry named head football coach at Northside High School - talkbusiness.net

Felix Curry has been named head football coach at Northside High School in Fort Smith, succeeding Mike Falleur who led the program for nine years. Curry recently worked as Northside's defensive coach and the head track coach since 2013.

"I am extremely excited to build on Coach Falleur's program and am thankful for the support of our football staff and community. I appreciate Dr. Morawski, Coach Beaumont and Dr. Rathbun for trusting me to lead the Grizzlies in this capacity," Curry said in a statement issued Thursday (Jan. 20) by the Fort Smith Public School District.

Prior to joining Northside's coaching staff, Curry was the defensive backs coach and coordinator at Flowery Branch High School in Flowery Branch, Ga., Greater Atlanta Christian School in Norcross, Ga., and South Gwinnett High School in Snellville, Ga.. He also was the head football coach at Glenn Hills High School in Augusta, Ga.

Curry received a master's degree in educational leadership from Troy State University in Augusta, Ga., a bachelor's degree in health and physical education from Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, N.C., and a specialist degree in school administration from Cambridge College in Augusta, GA.

"We had lots of interest from coaches across the state and surrounding states for this Head Coach position at Northside High School. Our search committee was tasked with finding not only an outstanding football coach and teacher, but also an incredible leader of young men, and we have found that with Coach Curry," FSPS Athletics & Activities Director Michael Beaumont said in the statement.

Falleur, a graduate of Northside High School, coached for more than 30 years, with the previous nine years as Northside's head coach. His record at Northside was 50-49-1.
