In The Region: Tech Women To Host Radford; Tech Men To Host Navy

The Virginia Tech women's basketball team will host Radford on Dec. 15, while the Tech men's basketball team will host Navy that same day.
The Roanoke Times obtained from Tech the contracts for some nonconference games that have not yet been announced by Tech, including those two games.
Tech will pay Radford $25,000 for the Dec. 15 women's basketball game. Tech squashed its New River Valley rival 85-40 last season.
The Tech women will host Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference member Coppin State on Nov. 16. Tech will pay Coppin $20,000. Tech won 85-32 when the teams last met in November 2021.
The Tech women, who won at Rutgers last season, will host Rutgers this season to complete the home-and-home deal.
The Virginia Tech men will host Navy on Dec. 15. Tech will pay Navy $90,000. Tech won 77-57 when the teams last met in the Veterans Classic at Navy in November 2021.

The Tech men will host CAA member North Carolina A&T on Dec. 12. Tech will pay A&T $95,000. Tech beat A&T 82-60 when the teams last met in December 2018.
The full Tech men's and women's nonleague schedules have not yet been announced.
As previously reported, Tech will be paid $150,000 by Charlotte Sports Events for the women's rematch against Iowa on Nov. 10 in Charlotte.
As previously reported, Tech will be paid $30,000 by Position Sports for the Tech men to play Penn State in Baltimore on Nov. 15 in a Hall of Fame Series doubleheader.
As previously announced, the men's teams from Tech, Michigan, Xavier and South Carolina will play in the Beach Division of the Fort Myers Tip-Off tournament in Florida on Nov. 25 and Nov. 27. The pairings have not yet been announced. Tech will also host a yet-to-be-named school from the other division in the on-campus portion of that event.
VMI to play in Greenbrier tourney
VMI will play in the inaugural Greenbrier Tip-Off Tournament, which will be held Nov. 15-16 at The Greenbrier in West Virginia.
The Keydets will be in the River Division with Charleston Southern, Tennessee Tech and Texas-Rio Grande Valley. The pairings have not been announced.
A separate champ will be crowned in the Mountain Division, which will feature Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, LSU and Central Florida.
Radford to play in Daytona tourney
Radford will play in the Sunshine Slam, which will be held Nov. 25-26 at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Fla.
The Highlanders will be in the Ocean bracket with Chicago State, Drexel and Purdue-Fort Wayne. The pairings have not been announced.
A separate champ will be crowned in the Beach bracket, which features Clemson, Penn State, San Francisco and Fordham.
