Hungary Vs Turkey Prediction, Lineups, Betting Tips & Odds

Hungary will welcome Turkey to Budapest for Sunday's second leg of their UEFA Nations League playoff tie. The hosts finished in third position behind Germany and the Netherlands in League A3. On the other hand, Turkey finished in second place in Group B4.

Hungary are set to compete in the second leg after they lost the first leg by 3-1. The Magyars will have to bounce from that defeat at home to beat the Crescent Stars. Hungary do have a good record against Turkey but coming from a two-goal deficit will not be an easy task at all. They did play a good game in the first leg but didn't finish their chances which led to their defeat.

The Crescent stars have a good chance to secure back-to-back promotions after coming up from League C in the 2022-23 Nations League. Turkey tactically outclassed Hungary in the first leg and will be full of confidence going into the second leg as they have a two-goal cushion. Before the first leg fixture, Turkey were winless against Hungary in the last five games. But somehow they did manage to break the run to get a win in the first leg.

Players to Watch Milos Kerkez (Hungary)

Kerkez is able to cover up big gaps during transitions. He can drop between the lines and always has a proper sense of positioning. He plays a significant role in stretching the opposition's defence.

Kerkez has a good ball-striking ability and always tries to come in a situation to either provide a key pass or shoot himself. His crosses are of high quality and that has provided fruitful results. In terms of defending he can improve more as he does make some mistakes.

Overall he is a fine player who can make a difference on the field. In 29 matches in the Premier League this season, he has scored two goals and has provided five assists.

    Orkun Kokcu (Turkey)

He has an elite passing, delivery and shooting ability off both feet which makes him unpredictable. This is a key aspect in making him so good creatively. When defending against him, it's hard to know what he will do next because he can go past you with both feet or pick out passes no one else can see.

The Turkish international is a genuine goal threat, whether it's outside from the box or making runs into the box, his finishing and shooting ability from both feet is top quality. In 24 matches in Liga Portugal, he has scored six goals and provided four assists.

Predicted Lineups Hungary Predicted Lineup (4-2-3-1):

Cakir (GK); Ayhan, Akaydin, Bardakci, Elmali; Kokcu, Calhanoglu; Aydin, Yildiz, Yilmaz; Akturkoglu

    Turkey Predicted Lineup (3-4-3):

Dibusz (GK); Fiola, Orban, Dardai; Bolla, Schafer, Nikitscher, Kerkez; Szoboszlai, Varga, Nagy

    Match Prediction

Hungary played a good game in the first leg but the results ended in favour of the home team. Surely in the second leg, they have to be more clinical to come back from a two-goal deficit. Turkey played a very smart game at home which got them the results. Surely they will look to do the same in the second leg as well. Most probably the second leg will end in a stalemate.

    Prediction: Hungary 1-1 Turkey

Preview: Hungary Vs. Turkey - Prediction, Team News, Lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Nations League clash between Hungary and Turkey, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Turkey will hope to maintain their first-leg lead and advance into League A of the UEFA Nations League on Sunday, when they travel to Puskas Arena to take on Hungary.

The visitors boast a commanding lead following their 3-1 victory in the first leg on March 20, a game in which Sunday's hosts wasted a number of opportunities in front of goal while Turkey were clinical.

    Match preview

Hungary registered 10 of their 15 shots from inside the box, but the likes of Kevin Csoboth and Zsolt Nagy wasted excellent chances from close range.

The hosts have conceded eight times in their past three matches and have only triumphed by two or more goals once in their last 10.

Boss Marco Rossi's side face relegation from the League A of the Nations League after finishing third in their four-team group with six points, three points behind second-placed Netherlands and eight points behind first-placed Germany.

The Magyars' form is poor, with the team losing five, drawing three and winning just two of their 10 most recent fixtures.

While Hungary are winless in their last four at home – being held to a stalemate three times in that period – they did achieve victory in nine of their previous 10.

Opponents Turkey only generated one big chance, three shots on target and 0.72 xG, but second-half strikes from Kerem Akturkoglu and Irfan Kahveci were enough to claim the win.

It should be noted that the visitors did lose their prior match 3-1 against Montenegro in the Nations League on November 19, though that was their only defeat by at least two goals in their past 10.

Manager Vincenzo Montella's team have never been in League A of the competition, and they were in fact relegated to League C at the end of their 2020-21 Nations League campaign.

Though the Crescent-Stars only triumphed in one of their last three, they won each of their prior three and achieved victory in six of their past 10 while losing just twice.

However, Turkey's away record is far from perfect considering they have been beaten in five of their 11 most recent games on the road, only winning on three occasions.

Hungary will hope that attackers Dominik Szoboszlai, Barnabas Varga and Kevin Csoboth can turn around the team's fortunes in the second leg.

The three forwards could be supported by a midfield consisting of Andras Schafer and Tamas Nikitscher, while centre-backs Attila Fiola, Willi Orban and Marton Dardai will likely protect goalkeeper Denes Dibusz.

Opponents Turkey are almost certain to name a similar starting XI to the team that triumphed in the first leg, so expect Samet Akaydin and Abdulkerim Bardakci to shield shot-stopper Ugurcan Cakir.

The visitors may field a double pivot featuring Orkun Kokcu and Hakan Calhanoglu, and the duo could start behind striker Kerem Akturkoglu.

Hungary possible starting lineup:Dibusz; Fiola, Orban, Dardai; Bolla, Schafer, Nikitscher, Kerkez; Szoboszlai, Varga, Csoboth

Turkey possible starting lineup:Cakir; Muldur, Akaydin, Bardakci, Elmali; Kokcu, Calhanoglu; Aydin, Yildiz, Yilmaz; Akturkoglu

    SM words green background

We say: Hungary 1-1 Turkey (Turkey win 4-2 on aggregate)

Turkey will be able to surrender possession to their hosts, and it would not be surprising if they created chances during counter-attacks.

Hungary's recent defensive vulnerability makes it difficult to see them keeping a clean sheet, and they could find themselves relegated from League A by the time Sunday's match ends.

Türkiye Slam Hungary 3-1 In UEFA Nations League Playoff Thriller

The Crescent-Stars faithful erupted at RAMS Park on Thursday night as Türkiye's national team seized a commanding 3-1 victory over Hungary in the first leg of their UEFA Nations League Playoff showdown.

With a blend of youthful exuberance and tactical grit, the hosts carved out a two-goal cushion ahead of Sunday's decisive return leg in Budapest.

The match kicked off at 8:00 p.M. Local time under a charged atmosphere, amplified by pre-game tributes to the 110th anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory.

Turkish flags waved proudly in the stands, while banners honoring the March 18 Martyrs' Day added a poignant backdrop to the night's drama.

Türkiye wasted no time asserting dominance.

In the ninth minute, Oğuz Aydın's clever pass found Orkun Kökçü, who rifled a right-footed strike from just outside the penalty arc past Hungary's helpless keeper Dibusz.

The 1-0 lead ignited the crowd, but Hungary clawed back in the 25th minute.

A pinpoint cross from Bolla met Varga's head at the far post, setting up Schafer to pounce on a rebound off Uğurcan Çakır's save, leveling the score at 1-1.

The first half ended deadlocked, promising a tense second act.

The breakthrough came in the 69th minute when Aydın, a breakout star in his first official cap, turned provider again.

His low cross from the right found Kerem Aktürkoğlu, who coolly slotted home to restore Türkiye's lead at 2-1.

Four minutes later, the hosts struck gold again.

Substitute Mert Müldür lofted a ball into the box, where Aktürkoğlu nodded it down for İrfan Can Kahveci to lash a left-footed screamer into the net, sealing the 3-1 triumph.

Despite the win, Türkiye faced setbacks.

Kaan Ayhan limped off in the 27th minute with an injury, replaced by Müldür, while Orkun Kökçü's 41st-minute yellow card means he'll miss the second leg due to suspension.

The squad was already shorthanded, with Arda Güler and Merih Demiral sidelined by bans, and Yunus Akgün and Mert Günok nursing injuries.

On a brighter note, the match marked historic debuts for 20-year-old Porto striker Deniz Gül, who subbed in at halftime, and Eintracht Frankfurt's Can Uzun, who entered late.

Aydın, already a familiar face from friendlies, etched his name in the record books with assists on the first two goals.

Hungary, led by stars like Liverpool's Dominik Szoboszlai, struggled to find rhythm after their equalizer, leaving coach Marco Rossi with plenty to ponder before the rematch.

For Türkiye, manager Vincenzo Montella will look to his depleted roster to hold firm on foreign soil.

Youth and Sports Minister Osman Aşkın Bak watched from the stands, joining the raucous celebration of a victory that keeps Türkiye's Nations League dreams alive.
